Work at Cormorant House is progressing, as the off-site construction of the structural steel frame is now 99% completed.
All of the 225 tonnes of structural steel needed for the frame of the building has been procured and delivered to the fabricator.
With work of the erection of the steel frame due to begin on the 27th of March, preparation work has started on site, with the base of the ground slab being reconstituted following the installation of the piles.
As the construction of the piling foundation is now completed, the pile cap steel reinforcement has commenced, having started on the week commencing the 6th of March.
Currently, the tops of the piles are being cropped and pile integrity is being carried out ready for the construction of the pile caps themselves.
Enabling works to uphold the face of the wall supporting Manchester Road is completed and the construction of the permanent access road is well advanced, and is sufficient enough to provide site access.
The architect has completed the design to the construction phase. The structural design is also progressing well, with the design of the foundation, pile caps and drainage all completed.
Standing at the heart of this vibrant university town, Cormorant House offers a modern and luxury student accommodation - with a 9% rental return for 5 years.
With Huddersfield having a vastly undersupplied purpose built student accommodation market, this development offer investors a great opportunity to benefit from the town’s growing student population.
