The Produce Exchange: Construction Works Started

The Produce Exchange’s site accommodation, set-up and construction works have now commenced, with management processes in place to support the current site operations.

The Produce Exchange’s site accommodation, set-up and construction works have now commenced, with management processes in place to support the current site operations.

The external scaffolding has now been completed, with site temporaries also fully set-up to provide power and lighting to all areas on site. These are located on the ground floor within the retail unit, which will be used for sub-contractor accommodation.

With the site set-up established, the asbestos fully stripped-out, and the electrical meter installed - the internal strip-out has now begun, together with intrusive works to the existing structure.

Over the forthcoming period, the external hoist will be installed, heavy demolition works will be carried, partitions will be raised and the first mechanical and electrical fixtures will be installed.

With the commencing of the structural work, the new transfer deck will also be installed and a survey of the roof will be conducted.

Installation of the scaffolding and other major works are already ahead of schedule on site, whilst the interior demolition and partition process has been slightly delayed by two weeks.

However, to ensure that the scheduled completion time is achieved, developers will recuperate the delay by re-programming the time required to complete the demolitions and partitions accordingly.

With construction continuing to take place at an acceptable rate, the construction team are confident the Produce Exchange will meet its scheduled completion date of Q2 2017.
