According to the latest report from LSL Property Services, rent prices in England and Wales have risen by 0.6% in May, whilst the year-on-year figures have seen a 1.1% increase.

The rate of increase has varied across the regions, with the South West recording the largest amount of growth as rent increased by 3.9%. The East Midlands experienced the second largest upsurge with rent prices growing by 3.8%. London still experienced a slight increase with figures standing 1% higher than this time last year.

The only regions to see a fall in rent prices were the North East, the East of England and the West Midlands.

The report showed that the rental return for buy-to-let properties remained on level with the figures from April, with recent trends indicating that overall rental return is likely to increase over the next 12 months.
