Since being released onto the UK’s property market in 1996, buy-to-let property has been a stable and successful investment opportunity for purchasers.

A new report from Paragon Mortgages states that the success of buy-to-let is set to continue, having already offered continual growth over the past 18 years. The report predicts that the market will grow by 11% over the next decade.

This follows the news earlier this month that buy-to-let has represented the best investment opportunity over the past 18 years, dramatically surpassing the return offered by other investment types.

For a £1,000 investment made in 1996, an individual who invested in property would have received a return of £13,048.

These latest figures come just ahead of the implementation of new mortgage affordability rules, from which the buy-to-let market will be exempt, offering excellent investment opportunities within a market estimated to have seen lending worth £174bn since 1996.
