US Investment in Northern Powerhouse

David Cameron has been in the United States to meet with leading American businesses to discuss the opportunities available in the Northern Powerhouse.

Following the recent success of his trip to China, the Prime Minister is in New York to meet with companies such as Amazon, JPMorgan Chase and Thomson Reuters, to recruit them for the UK’s multi-billion pound plan for the North.

The purpose of Mr. Cameron’s visit is to present the opportunities that the north of England presents for international businesses and to act as an opportunity to create thousands of new jobs in the region.

“I want to build on these successes and make the north of England a global powerhouse – so we can truly rebalance our economy and spread opportunity across the country”, said Mr Cameron.

“That is exactly why I am using my time here in America to speak about the immense opportunities in the north of England to some of the world’s biggest businesses.”

This will be the first time that the Prime Minister has showcased the government plan to parties in the US and it is hoped that the trip will follow on from the success of a recent visit to China.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that China’s Hualing Industry and Trade Group is set to invest £1.2 billion in to three key projects in Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield.
